World IP Day: Building System-Level IP Strength for AMHS Innovation

On April 26, 2026, World Intellectual Property Day highlights the growing importance of IP in driving innovation and competitiveness across advanced manufacturing industries.

Within semiconductor fabs, AMHS (Automated Material Handling Systems) serves as critical infrastructure enabling efficient operations. Characterized by long technology chains, high system complexity, and strong engineering integration requirements, sustained advancement in this field depends on a solid technological foundation and continuous iteration.

For AMHS providers, intellectual property is not an add-on—it is a core reflection of technological accumulation, R&D capability, and long-term competitiveness. To date, MFSG has filed over 330 patent applications, with 135 patents granted, and nearly 80 applications filed globally. These patents span key domains including material transport, storage, contamination control, software systems, and sensing and control technologies, forming a comprehensive and structured IP portfolio.

Around core AMHS technologies, MFSG continues to advance its in-house R&D capabilities. From the development of its fifth-generation intelligent OHT system, SkySAIL, to large-scale deployments across multiple 12-inch semiconductor fabs with continued repeat orders; from contributing to technical standard development to delivering over 20,000 AMHS units across more than 50 fabs worldwide, intellectual property has remained integral to both technology development and business expansion.

As the semiconductor industry continues to evolve, the role of intellectual property is expanding beyond protection. It has become a fundamental capability that supports technology commercialization, enables ecosystem collaboration, and strengthens global competitiveness.

At the same time, MFSG is actively advancing its global footprint, with a global sales center in Singapore, manufacturing and service operations in Malaysia, and ongoing expansion into the European market. The technological independence, innovation integrity, and system-level capabilities embodied in its IP portfolio serve as a critical foundation for global market expansion.

Looking ahead, MFSG will continue to focus on high-value patent creation, systematic IP portfolio development, and the effective commercialization of innovation. By translating technological advancements into core competitive strengths, the company aims to further support the long-term development of the semiconductor AMHS industry.
